Rutland Home Guard cap badge
An original die-cast brass horseshoe inscribed ' RUTLAND ' with two lugs to reverse. The badge was copied from that worn by the Rutland Company of the Home Defence Volunteers during WWI. The original Zone and battalion commander, Col.J.W.Ogilvy-Dalgleish sought permission from the Leics. and Rutland TA and arranged for their production. They were worn by all members of the single battalion raised in Rutland and were subsequently worn by members of the 2nd phase HG during the fifties but only by those members who had retained their badges. Excellent, clean condition, scarce.
