German 1kg B1E Incendiary Bomb.

The standard German 1kg incendiary bomb dropped on the UK in profusion and the baine of the Civil Defence services. Filled with thermite and made from electron magnesium and intiated by an impact fuze, the I.B. burnt with a fierce heat and intense white light.'
This example was acquired along with item: 13639 ' Norwich Incendiary Souvenirs ' and as with these items I cannot guarantee that this I.B. originated from the Baedeker raids on Norwich in April and May 1942. Clearly stored in a shed which has ensured a uniform level of corrosion and patina. Clearly the nose has been detached at some point but is now stuck in a partially unscrewed state. Partial markings can be discerned. The tail detaches as does the top filling plug and retains the original pins.
