Royal Ordnance Factory lapel badge - R.O.F. Birtley

Gilded brass lapel badge with pin fitting for Royal Ordnance Factory No.3. No.3 was R.O.F.Birtley, Gateshead which made cartridge cases.
These badges were introduced in 1940 for workers at the various factories across the UK but were phased out from 1942 because of the their consumption of valuable raw materials.
This badge made by T.L.M.Ltd, B'ham and is numbered 7249 to reverse. Dulled guilding to obverse, bright to reverse.
