Tynemouth Emergency Feeding Centre badge.
Gilt and enamel, pinback badge for the County Borough of Tynemouth Emergency Feeding Centre. Probably dating from 1940, emergency feeding centres were established as part of the post raid services in order to cope with both the displaced population and the civil defence services brought in to deal with the aftermath of bombing raids. Many of these services were replaced or taken over by the Ministry of Food. Impressive badge in excellent condition with bright gilt and undamaged enamel.
